Frequently asked

Buying, shipping & the work

The questions that come up most. If yours isn’t here, ask Angeles: she answers her own messages.

Buying an original

How do I buy a painting?

Use Enquire to acquire on the piece, or send a message from Ask Angeles. She confirms it is still available, answers any questions, and sends you a secure payment link (card through Stripe, or PayPal) or bank transfer details. No account, no cart.

Can I reserve a piece while I decide?

Yes. A 30% deposit holds a painting for two weeks. The deposit comes off the price and is refundable if you change your mind within that window.

Do you offer payment in instalments?

Not as a rule.

Can I return a painting?

Yes. If you buy as a consumer, you have 14 days from delivery to change your mind, no reason needed; you pay the return shipping and we refund the rest. If it arrives damaged, Angeles takes care of it. You also have the 3-year legal guarantee. It is all in the terms of sale.

Is there a certificate?

Every original ships with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. The work itself is signed on the front and the back.

Shipping & delivery

How long does it take?

Originals are packed and dispatched within 2 working days. Delivery then takes around 5 days within Spain, 7–8 days elsewhere in Europe, 10 days to the UK, and around 14 days to the United States. For other destinations, please ask.

How is the work packed?

Small works and panels travel flat in a rigid box. Larger unframed canvases are removed from the stretcher and rolled in a tube on request, or crated. Everything goes by tracked courier, with signature on delivery.

What does shipping cost?

Shipping is tracked, and the rate is shown on each painting for five zones: Spain, the rest of Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States and the rest of the world. Any import duties are paid on arrival.

What about customs and import tax?

Deliveries outside the EU may attract import duty or VAT in the destination country. That is set by your customs authority and is the buyer’s responsibility; Angeles will tell you what to expect for your country.

Do you ship framed?

Works are sold unframed unless stated. Angeles recommends framing locally: you can choose the frame with the painting in front of you, in its real colours and in the room where it will hang, and it always looks better that way. If you prefer, framing can be arranged before shipping for an added cost: please ask for a quote.

The work itself

What materials do you use?

Oil on linen or cotton canvas, board or wood panel; watercolour on 230 gsm paper; occasional mixed media.

Are oil paintings varnished?

Not always. Oils can only be safely varnished once fully cured: 14 to 18 months after painting, to avoid trapping oxidising solvents underneath. A recent piece may not be varnished yet; ask if you would like to know the status of a specific work.

Do you paint birds from photographs?

Yes, birds and some animals are painted from a reference photograph rather than life: most are North American species, not local to Almería, mainly from photographs taken in Pennsylvania. Every reference is either by her friend, photographer Cindy Clouser, used with her explicit permission, or a public-domain image.

Are the colours accurate on screen?

They are photographed carefully, but every screen differs. Please ask for extra photographs before you buy: Angeles would rather you were sure.

Can I see a piece in person?

A visit to the studio can be arranged with Angeles. Please get in touch with her through Ask Angeles.

Commissions & prints

Can you paint something specific for me?

Yes: a place, a view, a bird. See the Commissions page for how it works and guide prices. A 30% deposit books your place; 6 to 8 weeks is typical. A faster turnaround is possible for an added cost.

How are prints different from originals?

Originals are one of a kind, painted by hand. Prints are archival reproductions, made to order and shipped by Fine Art America worldwide and, in Europe, also by Posterlounge: a separate service with its own returns (30 days with Fine Art America, 100 days with Posterlounge).

What if something arrives damaged or not as described?

Please tell Angeles within 14 days, and she will make it right.

Still not sure?

Ask anything: a size in your room, shipping to your country, whether a piece is still free. It goes straight to Angeles.
