Description
The nightingale is best known for its powerful and beautiful song. In fact, its name "Nightingale" is derived from "night", and the Old English galan, "to sing". In its Old English form 'nihtgale', it means "night songstress". Its song is loud, with an impressive range of whistles, trills, and gurgles, and it's particularly noticeable at night because few other birds are singing. Hence its name.
