Blue Jays (Cyanocitta cristata) are large passerine birds in the family Corvidae, often identified by their blue bodies and head crests, or sometimes by their noisy calls. So much so, that the bird's name derives from its noisy, garrulous nature. They are songbirds blue and white with a narrow black neckline (males and females share the same plumage), often found in North America east of the Rockies, from where they are native, although it can also be found breeding populations in southern Canada or even resident populations in Newfoundland. They are known for their intelligence and adaptability, as they may feed on almost anything, and are quick to take advantage of bird feeders.

After more than a decade of clinical psychology private practice in Madrid, some years ago I moved to the National Park of Cabo de Gata on the south coast of Spain and started my career as a writer. The peculiar environment in my new home made me a self-taught painter, and over the years painting has become a professional activity.
