Artist's Description
The Alcazaba of Almeria, with its 1430 meters of wall, is, after the Alhambra in Granada, the largest Muslim building in Spain and has the best gardens. It is perched on a limestone hill overlooking the bay of Almeria. It was built around 955 when Almeria gained the title of medina (city) under the Caliphate of Cordoba. Commanding the city and the sea nearby, the walled citadel was designed to be the seat of the local government. The Alcazaba has been used to film Conan the Barbarian, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Never Say Never Again, and its surroundings have been used also in the shooting of the series Game of Thrones.
About Angeles M Pomata
After more than a decade of clinical psychology private practice in Madrid, some years ago I moved to the National Park of Cabo de Gata on the south coast of Spain and started my career as a writer. The peculiar environment in my new home made me a self-taught painter, and over the years painting has become a professional activity.
