Description
This painting is based on the original photograph 'Prolific Songster - House Wren', by Cindy Treger, whose express consent has been requested to use it as a reference.

The House Wren (Troglodytes aedon) is a very small songbird of the wren family. They have a huge geographic range, and they live in many habitats from Canada to southernmost South America. Their taxonomy is very complex and some subspecies groups are sometimes considered separate species.
In North America, the house wren is thought to achieve the highest density in floodplain forests in the western great plains. They may nest in almost any kind of enclosed space, but they usually like to use woodpecker holes as nesting sites, what makes them compete for those with the House Sparrow.
In fact, that housing feature gives them their name, House Wren, which comes from its tendency to nest around human homes or in birdhouses.
Another curious thing about this housing feature is that males build several dummy nests and is the female who chooses one by adding the lining.
Courtship involves male singing. That's why, in the breeding season, males are easily spotted singing its energetic song from the top of a bush or fence post.
