Artist's Description
A butte is a secluded hill with steep, often vertical slopes and a small, relatively flat peak. The word 'butte' comes from the French word for hill (but of any size); its use is common in the western United States, including the southwest, where mesa (Spanish for 'table') is used for larger landform of relief.
I tried to imagine a volcanic landscape that I know very well due to my walks with some of those buttes that I've read about, and this painting shows how that site would look.
About Angeles M Pomata
After more than a decade of clinical psychology private practice in Madrid, some years ago I moved to the National Park of Cabo de Gata on the south coast of Spain and started my career as a writer. The peculiar environment in my new home made me a self-taught painter, and over the years painting has become a professional activity.
